OVERVIEW
In Spring 2013, CAGP was retained by UBC Project Services to conduct a feasibility study for re-planning approx. 8,000sf of surplus space as a result of the UBC Library vacating space on the 4th Floor of the School of Music. The program included an 80 seat Classroom for teaching and music performances, Seminar and Music Practice rooms, administrative offices and informal learning areas. A new, high-density Music Storage facility was also required which expanded work into the building’s Lower Level. The scope of work necessitated Code upgrades to create new Washrooms as well as existing emergency exit and fire separation upgrades as the building lacks a primary fire sprinkler system. The project developed through design and Contract Document stages, including detail design of rigorous, acoustically-separated construction for all facilities. . Client Contact: Karen Koyama, P.
