OVERVIEW Located in the south-west corner of UBC’s Point Grey Campus, Totem Field Studio is a modest, two-storey concrete block and wood frame building which has served a variety of uses from maintenance support to academic functions since construction in the early 1960’s. The building currently houses the Faculty of Arts’ Linguistics Program with a mix of faculty offices and teaching space. With Linguistics expanding to offer a new Professional Master’s program, CAGP was assigned by UBC Project Services to develop design and oversee construction for upgrades to the 9,500sf building to create improved seminar and teaching space, Grad Student Lounge, Main Reception, faculty offices and specialized ‘Recording’ rooms. The project was assigned early Spring 2018 for an ambitious August completion, ready for start of Fall classes.
