OVERVIEW
For BCIT Facilities & Campus Development, our firm has been asked to generate various
planning and design solutions for NE01 interior ‘fit-out’ projects, usually modest-budget
and quick turn-around to suit BCIT’s academic schedule. Projects involve creation of
new administrative offices and meeting rooms, re-planning existing academic space and
retrofitting shop space in this monolithic, pre-cast structure constructed in the mid
1970’s. In recent years, the School of Construction & Environment’s academic programs
have taken over space with requirements for sophisticated computer labs and teaching
facilities in what was once predominantly trades’ program space. Budgets are typically
limited with base building operating systems and infrastructure challenged by age and
lack of flexibility. All projects involve all- new fittings, finishes and updated technology.
