OVERVIEW
The COLBORNE ARCHITECTURAL GROUP Pacific has completed a Project Definition Report (PDR) for Vancouver School Board to seismically upgrade and extensively retrofit three existing academic buildings including the Heritage ‘A’ (1897) Junior Classroom Building at Strathcona Elementary School. Functionality is to be rationalized and updated to include a more open, flexible small learning community approach to space planning. Other buildings on site, including an existing Community Centre and a redundant academic building are to be integrated into the Master Plan with an emphasis on local community services. Site organization security, landscape features and traffic planning are key concerns for the politically active Strathcona PAC and community.
