As part of a series of academic renovations in SFU’s classroom complex, CAGP was requested to design a specialized video conference facility for the Department of Psychology. This room allows large group video links to off-campus sites as well as providing for technology research activities related to Psychology Graduate programs. While a single room facility, the project required careful coordination of IT services, specialized multi-configuration lighting and noise-controlled mechanical systems.
All projects require close liaison between the design team, academic user representatives and the SFU Facilities Management Office. In addition to design and construction review services, we are responsible for the selection of colours, finishes and furniture coordination. Building Code and mechanical-electrical upgrades are paramount in all facilities. Budgets are normally very tight, requiring that designers focus on delivering functional, flexible and durable built facilities. Typical construction budgets for minor projects range from, $150 - $350K.
