ISSUES
Good design for restaurant and hospitality venues must focus on one issue
- the needs of the guest. A good host is essential for the comfort of
each guest and this applies to the physical setting as well as people.
Overall 'image', efficient layout of facilities and back-of-house support
should all serve this end. As well, it is important to clearly understand
the operational logistics of the facility, particular staff needs and
the impact of building mechanical - electrical systems in supporting
these operations. We view the hospitality venue as having parallels
to a 'theatrical setting', where a guest can relax and escape, even
if briefly, from their daily routine.
To achieve these objectives we will employ strong visual features, a
varied palette of materials and furnishings, creative lighting along
with efficient and durable work areas. The careful coordination of mechanical
- electrical services is essential to the success of the visual and
functional design with a particular emphasis on kitchen and bar areas.
