Highlands United Church has retained the Colborne Architectural Group Pacific to prepare a Master Plan for long-term revitalization and improvements to the existing church buildings and to prepare detailed documents for the first steps in this process.

In the summer of 2006, new roofing and exterior painting was completed. Lighting improvements to the Sanctuary are currently underway. The next anticipated phases for construction include functional alterations to the Sanctuary and lower hall, new stairs and elevator, creation of a multi-purpose gathering and social space and washroom improvements.
