BC Transit Security and HandyDART Offices
307 Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC

BC Transit

This building retrofit project involved the re-use of a 15,000 sq.ft., single storey heavy timber frame building on New Westminster's Columbia Street for new offices, dispatch and support spaces for BC Transit's security department and the lower mainland HandyDART service. BCT Security occupied 10,500 sq.ft. and HandyDART a further 3,000 sq.ft., separated by a unassigned bay which permits future expansion and can provide temporary BC Transit project office or storage space.

The Colborne Architectural Group was Prime Consultant for this work which included creation of new offices and employee recreation and training facilities, building envelope and seismic upgrades along with new mechanical and electrical systems. Construction was completed in 1998, with a construction value of approximately $800,000.
