BCIT

Commencing in 1997, The Colborne Architectural Group has completed upgrade and renovation projects at several BCIT academic and shop buildings including NE1/ Classroom Building, NE6/ Plumbing Trades, NE12/ Steel Trades, and NE20/ Small Engines. Projects typically involve building code and accessibility upgrades as well as planning changes, base building services and technology improvements. Non-standard design assignments emerged because of the specialized training facilities at the Burnaby campus; a large, open steel frame canopy for outdoor boat engine repairs; a major skylight safety retrofit above re-furbished student cafeteria; inserting Women's washroom facilities into traditionally 'all male' workshop training areas. Because of the continuous year-round use of campus facilities, construction schedules were usually constrained and budgets always tight. Typical construction budgets, $100-250K.
